March 22, 2007 First, read this Now... As you've already read, Synch's going on a hiatus until I start back at the beginning. However, please don't be pissed off that I keep disappearing from updates with or without good explanation. And because I realize a simple sentence isn't going to un-piss off anyone, I've got a bonus for all current readers. If you send me an email (to revathetoonist AT hotmail DOT com) with the subject line of "Synch List" you'll get extra bonuses once I return. I plan to keep everyone updated on progress and whatnot in this blog for now, but when I start posting on the site regularly again, you'll get emailed bonuses of sorts about once a week or so. (starting with an announcement of Synch's return, in case you stop checking back to the main page). I don't know exactly what it will entail yet, but probably things like character sketches, or a step-by-step of how a page was created, or backstories of where different things came from. Basically, it's a thank you to all the current readers for putting up with all these hiatuses and bullshit. (and, of course, I won't spam you, and you'll be free to send me a "fuck this" email to unsubscribe at anytime) I'll keep this open for a while, but it'll be closed before I start posting pages again.

January 22, 2007 comments? complaints? there's always the forums
January 16, 2007 - rolly poly beagle That's all the more news I've got for now.
-Reva- January 11, 2007 Since word is still spreading about the return of Synch (and because, I'll admit, I didn't get a whole lot of entry emails), I'm going to leave the contest open for another week. To enter, you just need to send an email to revathetoonist@hotmail.com with the subject line "contest entry." I'll draw one name at random, who will receive an inked drawing of the Synch character of their choice. I'll be drawing the winner this coming Monday. Also, that claw machine in the background behind Russell? It got covered by a speech bubble in a tragic planning accident, but it shall make a return, possibly as a desktop wallpaper. Why? I cannot say just yet.
-Reva- January 2, 2007 - And~ we're back. Hopefully I'll be back for a longer stretch this time. I've got a lot of things figured out, and I've got the plot planned more or less straight through to the end now. Anyhow, time for another contest. This time, the winner will get an inked drawing of the Synchronism character of their choice. To enter: just send an email with "contest entry" in the subject line to revathetoonist@hotmail.com. If your name is picked (at the end of the week), I'll send you an email to get the address to send the drawing to. Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for a few extras. I'm planning to revise the links page, as well as add some other things. Despite it's disturbing resemblance to myspace, I have myself an account over at ComicSpace. FYI: I've been declining requests from the people I don't know who have obviously just been trying to as many "friends" as possible. If I decline your request and you actually do read Synch, shoot me a PM and I'll add you. For those that didn't already catch it, I did a guest-hosting thing over at Digital Strips, in which Daku and I reviewed Malfunction Junction and dissed Phil Kahn (well, I did anyhow). You can check it out: here. Hope everyone is having a marvelous '07 thus far! also, join the forums. They're good for your health. Unless you're a spam bot.
-Reva- November 16, 2006 It seems mid-November is well upon us now, and, as you can see, no new Synchronism updates yet. I have been working on it once again, I can assure you. However, I'm still doing more planning and conceptualizing than I have been producing concrete web-ready pages. I'm thinking sometime in December would be a better estimate at a return date right now. It seems a bit funny, that last year at this time I was reading Reinventing Comics by Scott McCloud, and planning for what would become Synchronism. Now, I've just finished Making Comics, and am once again getting ready to get on with the story. A majority of my creative work since the hiatus started has been for classes, unfortunately (some of my photo class stuff can be seen on my Flickr page). I did, however, take part in Comixpedia's annual Fright Night event, alongside Iain of of A Pirate's Life for Me. I'm also going to be doing a guest-hosting gig over at Digital Strips: The Webcomics Podcast sometime soon here. That's all for now, but keep checking back. I have not completely vanished from the 'Net.
-Reva- September 25, 2006 Synchronism is going on hiatus. Current estimate for return will be sometime in late October/early November. To be notified by email of Synch's return, post your email in a reply to this thread (you shouldn't have to register to reply). The problem with webcomics is, no matter how far in advance a story is written, odds are the creator is still writing/drawing comic-to-comic, week-to-week or month-to-month, over a long expanse of time. And that usually means that changes in state of mind and situation are also going to cause changes in the feel of the strip. Reasons for wanting to make comics at all may also change. In the week that I spent without an update (due to the Photoshop errors that are still occuring), I realized that frankly, I didn't mind that much. A few months ago, I would have been flipping out over a missed update. I would have posted something from MS Paint as a welcome alternative to betraying up my sacred update schedule. However, last week I found myself not caring so much, knowing that in time, the story will be still be there in its completed form. And that it would be better to have the comic be work to the best of my abilities than to simply be there once a week. When I finish it, I want people to be able to read through the entire thing and not have to think "WTF was she doing on this page?" That was actually a secondary realization to becoming aware of my previous priorities. I wasn't writing Synch for myself, but for others. This isn't necessarilly always a bad thing, but in this case, it was. I am now going to focus on writing Synchronism with its characters being as I originally intended them to be, as opposed to being my messengers to specific people. I apologize for being so cryptic, but newsposts are no place for personal ranting about personal situations. However, I have the plot of Synchronism planned out through to the end, and I intend to finish it. I simply need to rethink some of the specifics, write more purposeful scripts, and hopefully build up a bit of a buffer. I'm also going to try to return with some more extras on the site, such as a map of and/or history of Leetstown and a cast page. This will likely be my only newspost before I return, but I may post occasional updates on the comic's status, my creative process, or the occasional sketch in my LiveJournal.
-Reva- September 12, 2006 - I'm feeling better now, Mom For those of you I haven't already mentioned this to, a cartoon I did earlier this summer was chosen as one of the top 12 finalists in the Union of Concerned Scientists' Science Idol competition, as was fellow webcartoonist Bryant Paul Johnson's. All 12 are going to be published in a 2007 calendar, and the top winner gets a hefty cash prize, along with a trip to meet the celebrity judge of their choice. If you'd like to check it out and vote, you can do so here (mine is number 6; Bryant's is number 5). Also, a big welcome goes out to new readers from The Spartan (which I just realized now has a functional up-to-date website... congrats to the Spartan for being one of the few YCP organizations with an updated website!). Although I didn't originally intend for Synchronism to be in print, and you'll likely never see it in book format, I think they've done a fine job in displaying it, and will hopefully get a few readers to check out the site for the "second layers."
-Reva- September 11, 2006 Update whenever I feel less like crap. September 4, 2006 Apparently there's now a TV drama in the UK called "Sinchronicity". And among the main characters is someone named Nathan. Okay, it could be a lot more coincidental than that, but I was relatively amused. That, and I had a lack of anything else for a newspost.
-Reva- August 30, 2006 So, Synchronism t-shirts? Right now, that's the only one in existence, and will be for quite some time (I left my screenprinting stuff at home when I moved back to college). But I may eventually be printing some up on-demand for anyone that's interested, though I may change the design a bit first. Pluto used to be a pretty cool planet. Kris Straub has possibly the best take on it, though. I made a Frappr map for Synch readers, just for the hell of it. In theory, the image/link should appear to the right of the screen, but in case it doesn't, try clicking here
-Reva- August 29, 2006 You went away Proper newspost to come tomorrow. For now, please enjoy this beautiful Shakespearian sonnet composed by Zach in order to inspire me to finish this week's comic:
That time of year thou may'st in me behold
